In Science I made a Barometer. A barometer measures the air pressure. The way a barometer works is that it is a glass tube covered at one end and in a bowl and open on the other end. The bowl and the tube are filled with the same liquid, a type of liquid meteorologists use is mercury. when the air pressure is low, the mercury (or I used water) in the bowl lowers forcing it up the glass tube (I use a plastic water bottle). When the air pressure is high the mercury in the bowl rises taking water from the tube out. Knowing the air pressure could help us and meteorologists predict rain, snow, etc.
Did your barometer work? Do your parents have one in your house? Have you ever seen one that you could purchase?
